Traceability food in my uncle’s factory
I don’t really understand how this traceability food items are done. I heard this term when I started working for my uncle’s meat factory, and since I was only part time, I was asked to help in many different things from from time to time. One time, I was told to help stamp bar codes to the packaged meat and I asked what it was for, and they told me this was the traceability food item as it helped determine the time, location and many more details of when the good was produced. So if in case any problems arise, by a simple check of the barcode will help determine the origin of these products. This has happened once before he said when products were recalled as there were reports of contamination by a bacteria which causes gastroenteritis in those who consumed it. So by selecting the possible food product and checking the tracability of this, they were able to recall all the other meat produced in the same they as they can be tracked to which stores they were delivered. It was amazing that things have become this simple, and I now understand the importance of traceability for these food items. So now that I am working full time for my uncle, better understanding of these important things is something I should really learn, and also, by such, be prepared also to know what to do in case of such emergencies like the one story my uncle told me.
